Types of Sponsorship
Be part of Align International's life-changing ministry by giving hope to a child that could not otherwise break out of the poverty cycle for only $35/month.
1Life With Hope Sponsorship
Life With Hope sponsorship provides for the health and education of children living with a loving caregiver in some of the most impoverished communities in Uganda. Sponsorship ensures that each child receives supplementary food and clothing, basic medical and mental health care, quality primary and secondary schooling and school supplies.
2Ewange (In My Home) Sponsorship:
Some children have needs over and above what Life With Hope Sponsorship provides. Ewange sponsorship was created to help these children thrive. The local Luganda language word “Ewange” translates to “In My Home”. Ewange sponsorship provides housing, supervision, additional food and other necessities close to Donela Bombo school, the Life Health (medical) Center and Bombo church campus.

How It Works
Identifying Children Needing Support
We partner with local churches in poverty-stricken areas of Uganda to determine at-risk children. Begin your sponsorship by viewing the stories of those in need.
A Brighter Future
Once you sponsor a child, our partner church steps in to ensure the sponsored child is provided with physical, medical, spiritual and emotional care. Children are also enrolled in a quality school and the tuition is paid, putting them on a path to self-sustainability.
Because we believe relationships are vital, we’ve made sure you can exchange letters and share photos with your sponsor child through your Profile Page. We are in constant communication with our church partners who provide yearly updates about your child that we share with you.
See a day in the life of a family of 4 children under the care of the two oldest siblings who became parents when they lost their mother and father to HIV/AIDS. With the support from donors, these children have found an opportunity for a whole new life!
How do you determine if a child requires Ewange Sponsorship?
Children typically qualify for Ewange Sponsorship for one of two reasons:
- A child resides in an area without access to a quality school and/or in a home situation not conducive to academic, emotional and spiritual growth. Ewange sponsorship provides these children with supervised student housing during the school year.
- Other children have been abandoned, orphaned or rescued from severe abuse. Ewange sponsorship provides these children with a surrogate family in a Life Home
In both cases, through our partnership with Bombo Pentecostal Church, these children are placed under the care of trusted house mothers, teachers and spiritual leaders who provide these children the tools necessary to pursue the academic and spiritual growth deserved by every child.
How is Ewange support used?
Ewange Sponsorship provides for supervised housing in one of 3 forms:
- Student Housing near Bombo Donela school campus during the school year (most children)
- Full time boarding at the Donela Bombo school for children in the Primary 7 grade during the school year
- Life Homes which provide a year-round surrogate family for children who have been abandoned, orphaned or rescued from severe abuse
In addition to supervised housing, Ewange sponsorship provides for evening and weekend meals at the home, clean water, utilities and associated transportation.
Because the cost for each form of housing differs, we determined it would be easier to administer the Ewange program by soliciting a single level of support for each child, rather than having multiple support levels that could change year to year. Surplus funds from Ewange children in lower cost housing is used to supplement the Ewange sponsorship funding for children in higher cost housing.
Regardless of an Ewange child's housing type, Align will ensure that each Ewange child's housing, supervision, food, clean water, utility and transportation needs are met so he/she can thrive in an environment that fosters their academic, emotional and spiritual growth.
What types of alternative living situations are Ewange children placed in?
- Student Housing near Bombo Donela school campus during the school year (most children)
- Full time boarding school for children in the Primary 7 grade during the school year
- Life Homes which provide a year-round surrogate family for children without a caregiver
How often will I receive updates on my sponsored child?
An update on the progress of your child is sent along with a recent picture by post once a year. You are also given access to a Sponsor Profile Page where you can login to view yearly updates and send a special message to your child.
How do I provide my sponsored child with a special gift for Christmas?
Each year we collect donations through our Christmas in Uganda campaign. Support raised is used to bless all the children and single mothers in our sponsorship program with special gifts and festivities for the holiday. More information about Christmas in Uganda will be sent out starting in September.
How long will the child I sponsor need support?
We serve the poorest of the poor and school tuition is unaffordable for the parent(s) of children in our program. Because of this, nearly all children in our Sponsorship program are behind academically. We ask our sponsors to commit to supporting children through Senior 4 (high school), regardless of the child’s age. Once a child finishes senior level education, sponsors will be given an opportunity to continue supporting their child in higher education through our Scholarship Program. We understand, however, that unforeseen hardships may arise. If for any reason you are unable to continue support for your child or single mother, please contact email@example.com.
How do I help my sponsored child pursue education beyond high school?
Our Scholarship Program provides students who have done well in school, been active in church and proven to be individuals of character with scholarships toward college or trade school. Godly men and women are given the life changing opportunity to further their education as they are empowered to impact their community for generations to come. Please visit our Scholarship page to learn more.
