Report on Donela School Construction
We just received an update from our amazing civil engineer, Deo Kabugo, who is leading all the Align capital projects in Uganda. Below is the latest:
- Fencing of Donela High School and Donela Wobulenzi Primary School: The whole perimeter of the schools' land was fully fenced. The gates are being fabricated and will be installed as soon as possible.
- The Eight-Classroom Block at Donela Primary School: The walls are up and the cement floors are poured. Deo's team has completed all the preparations to "cast the suspended slab" which will become the roof of the first story and serve as the floor of the second story when added. The crew plans to cast the concrete slab this weekend.
- Kakooge Classroom Ceilings: To keep out bat droppings, reduce noise and control temperature at Donela Kakooge Primary School, Deo's team enclosed the ceilings in the existing classroom block. The classrooms are now looking "very smart" as they would say in Uganda.
We thank God and all of you who contributed through donations, prayer and moral support to make this happen!
Align Pickleball Tournament
CALLING ALL PICKLEBALL ENTHUSIASTS:
Our 4th annual Dinkin' for da Kids pickleball tournament will be held Saturday June 21, 2025, and we'd love for you to join us! Come play pickleball, have some tasty tacos, frosty margaritas, win some awesome raffle baskets and/or auction prizes, and make new friends while helping those in Align's Life With Hope Sponsorship Program. Monies raised will support children and widows waiting for sponsors - currently there are close to 70 sponsorships needed. Please see the poster below for instructions on how to register and feel free to spread the word to your pickleball-playing friends.
We can use donations for the raffles and live auction, as well as volunteers the day of the event. Just email Barbara at [email protected] for questions and more information. Thank you for helping at-risk children and widows in Central Uganda.
- PRAYERS PLEASE -
Alex and Millie Need Visas to Visit the U.S.
Alex and Millie have run into a stumbling block to visit the U.S. this fall. They tried to schedule appointments for their visas on-line and learned the soonest they can get in will be early 2026. Please pray that appointments open up sooner so they and their team members, Angello and Jennifer Lokol, are able to visit us as planned. If you happen to have any connections with the U.S. Embassy, please reach out to Katie at [email protected] U.S.
Annual Visit to Uganda
Joe and Barbara Jackson will be visiting Uganda July 29 through August 9 and they ask for your prayers. They plan to visit and inspect all the capital projects at the Donela Schools at Bombo, Wobulenzi, and Kakooge as well as the Life Home Village. They will also spend time with some of the sponsored children and widows at all locations. Stay tuned as they will provide an update via newsletters. Feel free to reach out to them at [email protected] or [email protected] if you have any questions about Align specific projects and programs in Uganda. They truly hope you will join them on a future trip.
Sponsored Children of the Month
This month we are highlighting two young men who have excelled through Align's Life With Hope Sponsorship Program. Both have done quite well in school and are pursuing university degrees. Both are shining examples to other children in the sponsorship program. Both need only three to four years more of sponsorship to finish their education.
Below we introduce you to Abraham and John.

Below we introduce you to Abraham and John.

- ABRAHAM OCHENG -
This year Abraham is 21 years old. This young man has had a tragic upbringing. He recently lost his father to AIDS and his mother is HIV+ and too ill to care for him, so he relies completely on sponsorship to meet his needs. Abraham is doing extremely well in his studies at Gulu University where he is pursuing a degree in web design. Physically and emotionally he is also doing well. He is a member of the Bombo Pentecostal Church, and is praying for God to bless his studies so he can reach his goals. In his free time Abraham enjoys swimming and traditional dancing. He is thankful for his godly upbringing which has shaped his values, character and perspective on life.
- JOHN SSEKAGGO -
John is 22 years old, and is now at Kyambogo University where his favorite subjects are math and physics. As his mother is HIV+ and his father is struggling to make ends meet, John continues to reside at Bombo Student Housing where he helps out by fetching water and cooking. Physically and emotionally he is doing well. He is a member of the Bombo Pentecostal Church, and is praying for God to bless his studies and give him a bright future. This confident young man likes to play soccer and jazz music with his friends in his free time. John has dreams of becoming a mechanical engineer.
