Child and Widow Annual Sponsorship Updates

IMPORTANT!

Due to staffing and volunteer changes, we are delayed in sending out our annual sponsorship updates. Our goal is to have all updates sent to you by the end of April. Please reach out to Katie at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns. We thank you for your patience.

Construction Update

Our volunteer CFO Joe Jackson has provided an update on capital projects below:

Life Home Village

All the homes in the Life Home Village have received a fresh coat of paint. Other maintenance performed includes:  plumbing repairs, electrical checks and dead light bulb replacement,  boys' toilet door and broken house windows repairs, and bio-digester and associated waste-system repairs. The Life Homes have been recently repainted

Kakooge Primary School

  1. With completion of the six-classroom block in the fall, efforts have been focused on providing equipment for the new classrooms, installing ceilings in the original classrooms, and building removable soundproof dividers for the large room which is used as both a church and three classrooms.

  2. The ceilings have been installed with final filling/sanding of joints/painting to occur on weekends when school is out.  The ceilings moderate the temperature, reduce classroom noise and keep out the bats and their defecation.

  3. Durable hardwood desks were fabricated and are in use.

Wobulenzi Primary School

  1. The classroom block construction has begun, and the substructure is now complete. Superstructure construction will begin soon.

  2. Fencing plans were approved by the Town Council, and installation is planned to start March 24. The substructure for the new six-classroom + two-latrine first floor block

Donela High School

Construction of the six-classroom + two-latrine first-floor block will begin after completion of the Wobulenzi Primary eight-classroom block. This will likely be in May 2025.

Joe ended by stating, “The construction team continues to produce quality planning and construction at a pace never imagined before; we are blessed!”

Can You Help?

We believe it's vitally important for you to regularly hear from Alex and Millie so you understand how your support enables the Uganda team to be the hands and feet of Jesus in their communities. This fall we are looking at the possibility of holding smaller, more intimate dinners to allow for more in depth conversations between our supporters and the Ojeras. To make this happen, we are reaching out to our community to see if any of you would like to open your home to host one of these events. Please know that you would not be responsible for the set-up/clean-up, food, beverages, etc. Align will cover all expenses and our event team will take care of the details.

To learn more or offer your home for a dinner with Alex and Millie, please contact Barbara at [email protected]. Thank you for helping to forge deeper connections between our supporters and our Ugandan partners!

Join Us in UGANDA!

We are in the early planning stages of our annual visit to Uganda and would LOVE for you to join us! You will be able to meet our Ugandan partners and their team, and see the work they do in their community. You will also visit the Donela schools and the Life Home Village, as well as meet some of the children who are benefitting from these programs. AND you will get the opportunity to meet and spend time with your sponsored child/ren and widows. We are tentatively planning the trip for June or early July. For more information, please email Barbara at [email protected] or call her at 310-218-8689. We hope you will join us!

The Bombo Annual Medical Mission

If you have medical skills or a heart for caring for those with health concerns, our friends at Peninsula Community Church invite you to join them this year on their annual Bombo Medical Mission. For more information, email [email protected]. Feel free to spread the word to friends and family who might be interested. WEEBALE!

Did you know your sponsored child or widow loves to hear from you? Please consider writing a quick note to let you know you are thinking of them over Easter.

  • Log in to your account on the aligninternational.net website.

  • Under the "Actions" drop-down, click “Write a Letter”.

  • A new page will appear where you can write a letter to your child. You can also upload a photo of yourself and your family!

  • If you run into problems, just reach out to Katie at [email protected].

Please know it may take up to six weeks to receive a response due to travel time and limited internet access. When your sponsored child/widow has responded, you will receive an automated email notification with a link to log into your account.

Sponsored Child of the Month

- Gloria Ujuki -

Gloria is 14 years old and in Primary 4 (4th grade). As her mother was unable to provide for her and her siblings, she moved into the Life Homes and now has a safe place to grow. Since going back to school, Gloria has been working hard to catch up with her peers, and is improving academically. Her favorite subjects are English and science, and she dreams of becoming a businesswoman or fashion designer. Gloria is in good health and is doing well emotionally. She loves to sing, dance, and draw with her friends. Gloria needs sponsors so she can remain in the safety of the Life Home Village.

If you have never sponsored a child and/or feel God tugging at your heart, click HERE to sponsor Gloria. You can also see all the children now available under our Life with Hope sponsorship program by clicking HERE.
Thank you for loving those in need in Central Uganda!
