MARCH 2021 NEWSLETTER - NEW LIFE HOME CHILDREN

LIFE HOME CHILD SPONSORSHIP DRIVE - MARCH 22-31

Today is the first day of our Life Home Child Sponsorship Drive. As we reported earlier, thirteen new children have moved into our Life Homes. We have nine boys and four girls - eight of these children are five years old or younger. We need two sponsorships for each child - one to pay for their basic needs and another to pay for their new housing situation in our Life Home Village. We are grateful to God that two of our younger children, Patience and Maurice, have already been fully sponsored, and Richard, one of our older children, is partially sponsored. We now need twenty-one sponsorships to fully fund all new children moving into Life Homes.

Below are the stories of two of our youngest children. Each of them needs two sponsorships at $35 each: one sponsorship (BASIC NEEDS) pays for their essentials like food, medication and education; and the other (SHELTER) pays the expenses for living in one of our Life Homes. Please read and pray about becoming a sponsor - it truly changes the life of a child in Uganda!

NOTE: If the child you're looking for is already sponsored, we encourage you to review the other children available HERE - many have been waiting a long time for a sponsor. WEEBALE.

Pauline Nakintu

Pauline is the youngest child now in our Life Home Village. She is an outgoing three-year-old who had previously been living with her mother and her younger sister in Bombo. Her father has passed away which leaves Pauline’s mother struggling to provide for the family. She does her best by washing clothes for a living, but she must leave her children alone for long periods of time to maintain this job. Please consider providing Pauline with a BASIC NEEDS and/or SHELTER sponsorship so that she can continue receiving the loving support and stable environment she needs to become all God intended her to be.

John Kabanda

John is a delightful three-year-old who had been living in the community of Wobulenzi with his mother and older brother. His father passed away before he was born so his mother must work extra hard to provide for her children through farming. John is now in poor health due to lack of a healthy, regular diet. With his mother’s blessing, John is now living in our Life Home Village. Please consider becoming one of John’s sponsors so that he can continue to grow in the love and support provided by the godly Life Home staff

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN UGANDA
Donela Schools Reopening

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni announced more primary and secondary school classes as well as universities will begin to reopen next month. This is good news for Donela Schools as they should be able to hold classes for Primary 6 and Senior 3. Additional good news: the 2020 academic year will end this July.

However, due to the extended period of disuse because of the Covid-19 shutdown, the school facilities are in serious need of repair. All three schools need to be repainted; some need fencing and upgrades in water services. In addition, many of the children are struggling to reacquaint themselves with doing schoolwork after being gone for so long. Please pray for Donela School staff as they make decisions on how best to move forward.

Uganda Develops Rapid Covid-19 Test Kits

A team at Makerere University in Uganda, in partnership with France, has developed a rapid Covid-19 test kit. One of the researchers, Misaki Wayengera, stated: "This is a point-of-care test that can be used within equatorial Africa village settings, remote areas where there's no laboratory, there's no electricity, there's no expert." A sample of blood is taken from a pin prick which can then be quickly analyzed. It is hoped that this low-cost kit will help many countries in sub-Saharan Africa quickly manage outbreaks in the more rural areas.
