Donela Orange Primary & Senior School in Bombo
Shortly after securing sponsors for a large number of children in 2007, we discovered the lack of quality schools in the local community of Bombo, Uganda. In several cases, schools withheld meals and failed to equip students with the education necessary to move to higher grades. If these children were going to rise up and out of the poverty they were born into, we knew it was vital to provide them with an education that would set them up for success. After much prayer, we partnered with BPC to build a school campus for children to attend under sponsorship and under the auspices of our Church Partner.
Donela Orange Bombo was established in 2008 with just fifteen students. To date, the school has provided education for over 1400 children. The campus has grown to include a primary school for children from preschool to eighth grade and a senior school for students in ninth to twelfth grade. The school is recognized throughout the community for its success in the Primary Living Examinations, the nationwide test given to all students to advance into eighth grade.
The Headteacher of Donela Orange Bombo Nursery and Primary School is Cecilia Asenkenye. Prior to being named Headteacher in 2018, Cecilia served as a classroom teacher and the Dean. The Headteacher of Donela Orange Bombo Senior School is Ivan Sekibaala. Ivan previously served as Headteacher at the Donela Orange Nursery and Primary Schools in both Bombo and Kakooge. Cecilia and Ivan received scholarships through Peninsula Community Church and successfully obtained their college degrees. We are grateful that they returned and are now serving in the Bombo community, and we are blessed to have their leadership at Donela Schools.
PRAISE REPORT
We just received the following email from Millie Ojera:
Praise report - this happened in our Bombo area:
The Government has inspected a few identified schools in our Bombo area, and sent home children that were studying illegally. The schools that engaged in sending all children to school regardless of Government restrictions were warned not to re-open classes that weren't permitted to operate. Actually, even when schools open to these classes, these schools were told they are not permitted to open them until further notice.
This is good news because the likelihood of us getting back our children that had rolled on to other schools for this reason, is now high. ???????? Keep the prayers going! We echo Millie's encouragement to continue praying for the Donela Schools.

A HUGE WEEBALE to Baycities and Dress-A-Girl for their generous donation for the girls in our program!
